For a refreshing, all-natural tonic that smells and feels great, try making these herbal aftershave concoctions.

Things You’ll Need:

Herbal Aftershave Lotion

Step1
Place 10 oz. fresh sage leaves, 3 oz. fresh yarrow flowers and 3 oz. fresh or dried lavender flowers in a 32-oz. jar.
Step2
Pour grain or rubbing alcohol into the jar, up to two inches below rim.
Step3
Shake for about 10 to 20 seconds.
Step4
Let steep for two weeks. Shake for 10 to 20 seconds, a few times a day.
Step5
Strain and dilute with water to desired strength.
Step6
Apply to face after shaving.

Invigorating Aftershave Lotion

Step1
Pour 2 c. witch-hazel extract and 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar into a large jar.
Step2
Add 1 oz. dried lavender flowers and 1 oz. dried sage.
Step3
Shake for 10 to 20 seconds.
Step4
Let steep for one week. Shake for 10 to 20 seconds a few times a day.
Step5
Strain.
Step6
Apply to face after shaving.

Tips & Warnings

  • For dry skin, add 1 to 2 tbsp. almond oil or glycerin.
  • Add about 3 oz. eucalyptus leaves, or 3 oz. peppermint leaves, to acquire a mentholated scent.
  • Witch-hazel extract can be bought at a drugstore; look near the facial cleansers.
  • Test an area of your skin for allergic reactions before applying aftershave lotion to face.
